Having a root canal monday?!
Question: i am having a root canal on monday, i was wondering what to expect. the dentist explained the procedure, but how long can i expect to be sore, or will i? is it as bad as everyone makes it out to be?
by the way i'm 18 weeks pregnant, so the only pain relievers i can take are over the counter tylenol.

Most of the horror stories we all hear about root canals are the patients that arrived with a large abscess and had to be treated immediately. The infection interferes with the anesthetic making it very difficult to get the tooth completely numb. Thus they had painful experiences.
If a tooth is identified as needing a root canal before a massive infection sets in, it is usually a relatively painless procedure much like having a filling done. Post treatment discomfort is about the same, equal to having a basic filling done.
Good luck!
It isnt so bad i have had 7 root canals. And many teeth pulled and my parents only let me use over the counter stuff.Just be careful try not to chew on that side for a while.Because if u do trust me it will ache like theirs no tommorow.
I"ve had it and I tought it was easier than getting a filling.
Chances are, you'll be fine. I only used OTC pain relievers, too.
Good luck.
