What medication to use?!

Question: I have a tooth that was broken eating and pizza, the crust was too hard and my tooth broke. I'm not going to an oral surgeon because it is so expensive and I had othr teeth the oral surgeon to work with. The tooth is in the gum. I am a coward. My doctor told me that I could have something to help calm me. I am tolerant to pain meds and would appreciate your input. The oral surgeon is not an option. Thank-you for your help.

My first thought was that there was something already 'wrong' with the tooth prior to having the pizza for it to have that bad of a fracture.....

The only way you'll get relief from this is to have the tooth removed, either by an oral surgeon or a skilled general dentist. If you're looking for a 'wonder pill' to get you through this, you can request a premedication to take an hour or so before your appointment. It will take the edge off, you'll be calmer, and the work can be completed.

Some oral surgeons can sedate you, but the expense is high for that, so the premed may be your best option.

Bring a driver with you, don't eat four hours before the appointment, and just relax when you're back home again.... you'll be back to your normal routine in no time.

Best of luck to you!

tylenol, or over the counter meds if you won't see the dentist you will get nothing stronger, angalsetics for numbing should do the trick too
