Rubber bands have created a large gap in my teeth.?!

Question: I have had my braces for a little less than a year and i have been wearing rubber bands for 4 or 5 weeks. The problem is a large gap has started forming where the rubber band is hooked on, only on one side though. it is about 1 to 2 millimeters wide. I have an orthodontist appointment in about a week. What should i do in the meantime?

Have your braces tightened, that sounds like where the gap may be coming from. If they're already tightened, consult your dentist. This could all be normal. And you know that your gum bones are breaking when you have braces, so just give it a little more time and it may shift back into place. But you should still see your dentist.

Just keep up what the dentist told you to do - he might want it that way for an extra bracket or something. His goal might be to move your teeth over so by creating a gap on only one side, he an then keep straightening the others.

i have braces also.....i have gaps but i think its just sumthing that everbody goes threw....just ask at the apointment!

If your appointment is in a week I wouldn't worry about it, that probably wouldn't take much to correct. Although it's possible they may have done that on purpose for some other 'orthodontic maneuver'.

i used to have braces and i also had rubber gaps, i had the same as you and it corrected but my problem i another...
don't worry!!you'll get a perfect teeth

they want you to have gaps on purpose because then they will close off they gap to have your teeth straight.
