yeah i have a deep bite too and i'm going to get braces soon. a deep bite is when your front teeth like the first four cover up the bottom teeth. (see the link below)

it may seem like its not that big of deal however a deep bite can lead to all sorts of problems and I have experienced too. One problem is that your bottom teeth will begin to wear out and one of my teeth has worn a little bit. I also experienced pain in the gums of my upper teeth due to the deep bite. I have heard that it can also lead to jaw problems and other stuff in your thirties and forties.

To correct your deep bite you will have to wear braces for about 1 1/2 to 2 years maybe more if your teeth are stubborn. Your orthodontist might also recommend an appliance that will be behind ur cheek bones and you will have to wear rubber bands. Both of these will accelerate the correction of the bite. If you don't want braces ask your orthodontist/dentist about invisalign but im not sure if it corrects deep bites effectively so you might just want to go with braces

Also I dont think you will have to wear head gear or pull any teeth(they do that for overcrowding) however you still might want to check with a dentist and orthodontist but im pretty sure they wont unless you have another problem besides your deep bite

head gear

It's okay, it won't take as long as it will for other people because you are only fixing the overbite and nothing else. Braces look good on people who already have stright teeth.

they generally do something that does not make any sense, pull two top teeth and two bottom teeth. They did this years ago for me and did it again for my daughter. It did nothing for me at all as I still have the same problem. My bottom teeth hit the roof of my mouth and irritate or even cut into the flesh. It is raw right now as we speak! It just does not make sense to remove the bottom teeth to keep the lower receding jaw, more prominent, to compensate for the longer upper. I have recently heard that some orthodontists are leaving the bottom teeth in now. Go figure. Darn, too late for 56 yr old me, too late for my 30 yr old daughter.

See if you can find a guy who will leave in your bottom two teeth and extract the upper two. It only makes sense! Then they can pull your upper protruding teeth into line over the lowers without so much problem.

oh i had the same thing, my overbite was very deep. my front teeth went down so far that they touched my lower gums. All i needed was a retainer for 9 months. I had this done 5 years ago. you shouldnt need braces, if your teeth are straight like you say they are. Trust me, the retainer's not so bad. And once its all done, there's a huge difference, braces are definitely worse. an overbite stunts the growth of the lower teeth, so your mouth will look much more balanced when its corrected.
