I am not sure I understand your question. Here, I think, is the answer you are looking for. In the USA, you need a four year BA or BS to get into dental school. Then you spend four more years getting your dental degree. Some schools give a DDS, (Doctor of Dental Surgery), and others give a DMD, (Doctor of Medical Dentistry). There is no difference between the degrees. Simply different names for the same degree.
