When you bleach your teeth, there are 'tubules' in your enamel that open up to allow the peroxide to work. The reason you feel sensitivity is because of this. It takes a day or so for you to stop feeling the sensitivity. So, any dental bleach may (or may not) make you feel tooth sensitivity. My husband uses 35% Opalescense and feels nothing, whereas if I use 15% Opalescense, I can't breath because it hurts my teeth so bad. (Opalescense is a whitener that you can get at a dental office... the percentage is how strong the peroxide content is.)
Anything you can buy over-the-counter is much less concentrated than what you would get at the dentist. So, if you have sensitive teeth, an OTC whitener would probably be better for you.
That being said, another thing to think about is this: How straight are your teeth. Crest Whitestrips are great (and that's what I recommend if you want OTC whitening) but, keep in mind it is just a flimsy strip. If your teeth are crowded, twisted or crooked, you may not be happy with your results because the strip will not get into all the contours. In this case, I would see a dentist and pay the extra money to have bleach trays made and buy your whitening gel through the dentist. You'll see better results quicker (you may have sensitivity).
If you do experience sensitivity, try rinsing at night with a fluoride rinse...
Hope that helps.

Crest whitestrips will make your teeth a little sensitive, but ANY tooth whitener that contains bleach will make them a little sensitive. The Crest Whitestrips work pretty well, but if your want something fast, then go to the dentist and have them bleached. Con to that is the price tag, the strips you get from the store cost much less. The problem with the whiteners that say they won't make your teeth sensitive is they normally contain a peroxide based whitener instead of bleach, so they don't work very well.
I personally haven't noticed much sensitivity, generally I can just feel my teeth more when drinking ice water or ice cream.

i use crest whitestrips and they make my teeth really sensitive! also they make my teeth white but less shiny. the best thing to use is baking soda!

Crest white strips can cause sensitivity, but it is transient. It usually goes away quickly after you have completed the whitening process. I have been told the Aqua Fresh system does not cause the sensitivity that Crest does but I have no first hand knowledge of this claim. Good Luck

Commercial tooth whiteners use hydrogen peroxide and are expensive and inconvenient. A cheap and natural tooth whitening home remedy uses few strawberries but certain precautions have to be taken. I found the information at http://www.aches.in/toothwhitening.html
