Wisdom teeth are all the way in the back of your mouth, and are difficult to reach and keep clean. Consequently they do tend to suffer decay. It's usually a good idea to extract them if they are impacted or are trapping food (which might cause decay on the backside of the tooth in front of it).
If your wisdoms came in nice and straight and you can easily reach them to brush or floss, you don't need to get them pulled.
