Longer front teeth?!

Question:

Longer front teeth?

i've heard the dentist can file them .. ? how does this work? is it a painful procedure?

Answers:

the two front teeth should be level with the canine teeth. and yes the dentist can file them but it's not recommended because some of the tooth enamel will naturally file down throughout your life. if you file it down it causes damage to the tooth and can disrupt it. every time a tooth is drilled on it disrupts it and this can lead to a root canal. sometimes a tooth just doesn't deal well with being messed with, and so you don't want to drill on a tooth for no reason. it's not painful at all. they just take the high speed drill and shave it down bit by bit, but in all the time of being a dental assistant, the dentist i worked for, never recommended it, and discouraged it, maybe your situation is different, so talk to your dentist:)
