honey, don't worry, u will b OK. i promise. first, u r in the hands of professionals, and ur parents wouldn't let someone perform surgery on u if they didnt think they were the best. second, before the perform the surgery, they put a mask over your nose and mouth and u breath laughing gas (i 4get the name the doctors use) but it doesn't make u laugh. it calms u down sooo much, when u talk, u get a slur in ur voice and stuff ( u dont even notice it. i remember i had 2 get oral surgery and my mom was in the room the whole time and she said that was what i sounded like. lol.) then, they give u a medicine that puts u into a deep sleep - like, nothing can wake u up until the stuff wears off. they perform the surgery and it is done in no time. when u wake up, ur mouth might b a little sore and you prolly won't have any feeling in your mouth for another hour or so... so dont eat or drink anything bc u will make a mess.... lol. but, 2 b completely honest, b4 i went, i was crying like a was 3 yrs old!!!! I WAS 14!!!! lol. so, my mom brought me 2 dunkin dounuts and i got a lemonade coolata. lol. that made me feel a little better. then she was like, "if u survive, i MIGHT take u shopping... ". lol. it was like i had something 2 look forward to, and she took me shopping and everything was OK. and after about 2 days, when u r no longer sore, u feel 100% better than u did b4 the surgery.

good luck!!!
dont b scared! u will b FINE! i promis <3

usually when you have surgery they will put you to sleep. when i got my teeth pulled, i was put to sleep for an hour, but it felt like ten minutes and i didn't feel anything. i was fine afterwards too, i was worried for no reason. good luck!

You already said it's not that big of a deal so keep telling yourself that. There's really nothing that will take your mind off of it because we are all afraid of the unknown. Just think about how silly you are going to feel after it is done and it was no big deal and how much you worried about it before hand.

I would strongly suggest you get alternate opinions before having surgery on your teeth by a typical dentist. First, you need to know if the surgery is for "pockets" or dental disease causing problems like that. If it is, surgery will only fix the problem temporarily and it will happen again. You can fix "pocket" problems with some herbs. The worst pockets in the 5 range can be fixed within a few months without surgery.

If the surgery is to fix NICO issues, also called "cavitations" of the bone, don't let them scrape you into more problems.

Dentists have cause so many problems in our society from using amalgam fillings to using the latex type product in root canals that allow cavitations in the bones below them to flourish and cause huge health problems to many other parts of the body.

Don't just blindly go in there and let the dentist have free reign on your mouth without understanding ALL the alternatives to what he is suggesting for you.

good luck

Most oral surgery is done with sedation. They put an IV in my hand (which didn't hurt)...sometimes they use a pill, but that's not near as quick and effective....then I just went into "lala land" and didn't know anything. It seemed so quick. Afterwards, the dentist gave me a prescription for some painkillers that really helped. I was fine. It's only natural to worry about the "unknown", but really it will be over before you know it!

well if you are going to have surgery in two days you are probably needing to get a lot of stuff done before then.
get to work on all the stuff you need to do and time will fly instead of just dragging by with you sorrying
dental surgery is not even as bad as a regular office visit and I can tell you that you will be glad you had it done.
I don't even remember feeling bad after.
Eat healthy, stock up on cold goodies, get some sleep. and get a pile of movies to watch while recovering.
resting in the 24 hours after the surgery will help you hela faster and have less discomfort.
