Extracted tooth healing problems?....?!

Question: Without knowing what I was doing I have sucked the blood clot out of my extracted tooth socket. There is now a big hole and the gum hasn't sealed over it. Will the gum not form over it now and seal it? What can be done?

The hole left after extraction has to heal from the inside and the flesh must not grow over the hole.
A dentist will insert a wad of cotton wool in there and will reduce it over a period of days. It is essential that you do not get food trapped in there as this will rot and great an abscess. I have had this done myself, no injections only minutes at dentist so book your self in straight away

You have what's known as a 'dry socket'. You need to go back to the dentist or you WILL get an infection.

go back to the dentist he/she might give you
antibiotic's!!

It sounds like you started something you couldn't finish.

OOoh, dry socket. i had that after my wisdom tooth taken out. not much fun I'm afraid friend. You MUST go bakc and they'll pack the hole with some stuff that tastes rather gross - like strong clove taste..but it does work. Also hot salt mouthwash - dissolve salt in as hot water as can stand, swish in mouth and try and 'hold' over area, then spit out. Do this while waiting to get to dentist. It's all healed and fine now and caused me much less bother than when the impacted tooth was in!

I had wisdom teeth extracted whilst a teenager, have never quite recovered, I heal naturally but you really should visit dentist.

I also had a root canal work on teeth on right side, had it redone three times ...

Ouchy ouch ...

Give it a few days and it will be OK, it will heal.
