Braces: NHS.. Free for bad teeth, pricey for good teeth?!


Question: like.. my teeth are naturally straight but i have an over bite and have to get braces,... but i have to pay..

but my friend has pretty bad teeth and its free?!

why?

basically the nhs does not have enough funds to give everyone free braces. so, people with bad teeth get free braces for a MEDICAL reason, whereas people with maybe one wonky tooth, or an overbite in your case will have to pay as it is for a COSMETIC reason.

it should be free if u have been refered or recomended by ur dentist or orthodontist

The NHS probably only give them, for free, to people who are in dire need.. so if they're not exactly necessary they'll avoid providing a costly treatment.. :)

as funds cannot strech far they have to give the worst cases the funding but would u rather have an overbite and have 2 pay for braces or have incredible crooked teeth till u manage 2 get them 4 free
