Should I scrape off extra piece of silver filling?!

Question: I just got a silver filling, and noticed that the dentist filled my tooth past the point where he drilled (extra filling material). Should I scrape it off before it hardens and makes my tooth look uglier than it should really be? The extra piece of filling is just covering my enamel and doing nothing.

No, if it bothers you go back and let them look at it and see if it is ok to remove. Silver fills are different than tooth colored in that they are NOT bonded or glued in. The grooves cut in the tooth by the dentist and the way the filling is made is what holds it in. That extra piece may or may not be needed.
