Is it normal to get five cavities in one dental visit?!

Question: when I went to the dentist, I was surprised when he told me that five of my molars need silver fillings. That means I will now have a total of six silver fillings! I had two appointments made to get all five molars filled. I guess that I'm going to have a metal mouth.

Yes, especially if you haven't been in a while or if you eat/snack a lot or sip drinks a lot throughout the day. Not practicing good oral hygiene like flossing. But, in short yes and in a number of different possibilities.

Yes, the dentist can find five cavities in one visit.
To prevent cavities, brush your teeth for 3 mins twice a day at least. Better would be after each meal. Floss once a day. Stay away from junk food. limit chewy candy (sticks to teeth longer).
FYI from someone who has had fillings (silver) the fillings breakdown over time and more extensive fillings (crowns) will be needed later (years later) when they and the tooth breakdown.
