Is sodium bicarbonate good for whitening teeth?!

Question:

Is sodium bicarbonate good for whitening teeth?

If so, how should I apply it.

Answers:

Brushing with sodium bicarbonate will help remove surface stains.

However, it will do absolutely nothing to remove internal pigmentation that is present deep in your enamel and dentin. For that, you need to do Carbamide Peroxide bleaching that actually penetrates into your enamel and dentin (in-office procedure, whitening trays or the whitening strips).

Some intrinsic stains such as tetracycline antibiotic staining are VERY difficult to remove. (dark bands that resulted when one takes tetracycline antibiotics during early childhood).

Hope this helps.
