Question:

I had a root cannal done 15 years ago. All went well I thought, till about 2 years ago if got inflamed and pai

After more than 10 years my root cannal has stated to become inflaimed and painful. A course of antibiotics solves the problem for about a year, then it swells. My dentist wants to pull the tooth and put in a bridge.
Is there anyway to save the tooth?. I do not want a bridge and can not afford an impant. The tooth is a left uper moler.

Answers:

Yeh, I had the same problem. mainly because when they originally did the root canal, they couldn't get to the bottom of it - although i didn't know it at the time! My current dentist (private) tried to redo it - after an hour of trying to get past the point where the previous had failed, he had to give up. I was given the choice - a specialist or remove the tooth and have a bridge (too narrow for an implant), I chose the specialist as it is a front tooth and I would rather keep it a bit longer if I can. £500 later, and the specialist couldn't get all the way to the bottom either! Anyway, he's going to try from a different angle (another £300 +), when I can summon up the courage to go and get it done!

So, yes they can try and redo it, but see a specialist!

Good luck!
