Have You Ever Had A Bad Reaction to Novocaine??!
Question: I have NEver had anything like this happen before. A few minutes after my doc gave me the shots, he started the drilling and all of a sudden my heart was pounding super hard, I felt sick and dizzy. I've had Novocaine many many times and he said it was the same medication as always.....what happened here?? I was scared to death and left the office.

yup, I developed an allergy to epicaine (which is actually what they use now, not novocaine). I had epicaine all my life and then one time I had a bad reaction to it and i was dizzy and what not for about three days after, it happenned the next time as well, so now they only use lidocaine on me at the dentist. Good luck!

The amount of time you stay numb depends on the amount the dentist used. Maybe he used too much for your system and you had a reaction. They sometimes have to use more than other times depending on the procedure being done in order to numb you.
