Yuck, Wisdom Teeth! Help?!

Question: I have to go to my dentist to get examined, because my wisdom teeth are in, and have moved my teeth all around.

I wanted to know how painful the process is of getting them removed?
How long does it take to heal?
And, what are some good ways to help me feel better?

I had my wisdom teeth taken out about 5 years ago, but all of my teeth were impacted. They actually put me under to do the surgery. So, I didn't feel anything while they were doing the extraction. You will be swollen and sore for a few days. Don't lay down when you get home, try to keep your head up and elevated as it will help with the swelling. Also, if you get stitches, you won't be able to use a straw or smoke until the stitches are gone. You will want to stay hydrated and eat cold stuff (popsicles, ice cream, etc.). Also, you probably shouldn't eat hard to chew food for a few days as you will be sore.

The worst part about having your teeth removed is waiting for the procedure to begin. Seriously.
I had mine out in the Army. I was given Novocain, had all four out at once, and then had to walk 1-2 miles back to the barracks during the summer at Ft. Hood, TX. Those were the bad ole' days...

The process of getting your wisdom teeth pulled is not all that painful. You will get anesthsia so you won't feel anything. When you wake up everything will taste bloody - ew i know-. It hurts for about a day or two to talk and eat, but you'll be fine. Some people's cheeks swell up really bad and others don't. Mine were fine. Eat alot of liquid food - jello, pudding, soup it well help you feel better. Good Luck

Teeth or tooth? Its painless just the injection that is nerve wracking.. Eat Ice cream afterwards iT will heal ASAP..

It isn't too bad. They should knock you out to remove them. You will be very sore that day and on pain killers. The next day is better. You should be on regular food in a day or two. Just stock up on soup and yogurt, rent some good movies, and plan on resting for a couple days and you will be fine.

I waited a long time to have my wisdom tooth removed because I was so afraid and had heard bad stories from other people. When I finally went it was so easy that I was shocked. The dentist gave me a needle in my gum which was the worst part and even that was not very painful and only lasted a second. He popped the tooth out easily and so quickly that I was amazed. He put in one or two small stitches which I didn't even feel. I had to leave some cotton gauze in my mouth for a couple of hours because of some light bleeding. By the next day it was a ton better a after a couple of days it was almost all better. I was supposed to go back to have a stitch removed but it fell out on it's own and the dentist did not even make me come in. Don't worry so much and just get it done!

Pretty unpainful if u ask me, considering your asleep the entire time.

it hurt so good

My 17 year old daughter just had her wisdom teeth removed about a month ago and it took 15 min. She was tired for a couple of days and she took her pain med. for about a week, but she did ok. And she HATES dentists and needles even more. So don't worry it is really not as bad as it seems. As for the healing the ones on top were healed over within about 3 weeks the ones on bottom are still healing but that is only because she did not follow the directions and clean the holes out as she was supposed to and the bottom ones due take a little bit longer anyway. Hope this helped

wouldn't it depend on the roots of your teeth? If they are strait then it is like all the other pulling, but if they are weird then you might need an oral surgeon

The hardest part is waiting. They take them out its going to hurt a couple of hours after they let you go home. But they give you some Good stuff That will make the pain go away. no the healing it all depends on you. try not to eat hard stuff. and when every you get a chance rinse your mouth with warm water and salt. that will help it heal. i had my taken out, TWICE. I don't know they took them out when i was in A.I.T. and when I came home from deploying they took them out again. The doctor didn't understand it either. good luck
