I doubt your orthodontist would've decided to take your braces off before all the gaps have closed.

It's fiiiiinne. Your orthodontist went through enough schooling to know what it supposed to look like when they're ready to come off. Don't be so critical of things, they usually turn out well.

No, there should not be any space. Bring this to the attention of your orthodontist tomorrow before anything is removed, it's better to fix it now, rather than have to live with an open space that will pack food and harbor bacteria, or have braces put back on later to fix it. I know you don't want to put off having your braces removed, but you or your parents have spent a lot of money on your teeth, you have dealt with a lot of discomfort and occasional pain wearing them and after all of that don't you think you deserve to have them correct and precise, meaning without any gaps or spaces. If there is a space, that means your bite isn't quite right just yet either. It won't take long (a week or two in most cases) to close it and make sure everything is in the correct position. Let them know tomorrow.

I hate to disagree with the above two responders, but sometimes things do slip by us unnoticed. If an assistant works on you, let her know when you first go in. Your ortho may catch it tomorrow without you telling him, but it will probably be after the majority of brackets and bands have been removed. Then you will have to have all of brackets and bands put back on again, when it all could have been avoided. It's up to you, but I've had patients bring things to my attention before, a tooth slighty turned or a small space such as what you have, sometimes it's nothing and sometimes it's not. In any case it can easily be corrected, just bring it to their attention. Good luck!
