Answers:

A good Panorex x-ray should tell the dentist if all of her teeth are there, including adult teeth. It also shows a portion of the sinuses, the septum, nasal cavity, Mandible (lower jaw), maxilla (upper bone) etc. Bitewing x-rays are always a good idea to see if there is any decay in-between the teeth. My son is congenitally missing a premolar (#20) which we did not know until a pan was taken. Many times the adult tooth is not high enough in the bone to see on a Bwx x-ray. Some kids are late bloomers and hang on-to their baby teeth longer, while others are early bloomers and may lose some of their baby teeth earlier. Your dentist should be able to help you at your child's regular re-call appointment. If you have not had your child to a dentist yet, make sure that you make an appointment and go. He/she should be seen at least twice a year. Make sure that you supervise their brushing. Help him/her to start flossing everyday, and to use an ADA accepted toothpaste.
