For me, braces did not hurt, they were just uncomfortable. You'll feel a tight "pulling" that will make your teeth a little sensitive for a few days each time you have them tightened and when you have them put on.

I actually started to enjoy the "tightening" of my braces every month becuse I knew that my teeth were getting straighter. It's so worth it when you have them taken off and your teeth are pretty and straight!

Don't be scared! It will be fine. Take some tylenol right after you're finished and make sure to get lots of soft foods to eat.

yes very nuch

it hurts a bit. not too much though

no it doesnt really hurt, you get a little annoyed or a week or so but my mom has this numbing spray that she sprayed in my mouth, try getting that at a pharmasis office or somthing

it dint hurt me much to get them on.. but when i went for my last tightening.. it hurt BAD... just get sponges and wet them and put them in the freezer. and if your gums start hurting to be put the sponge on your gums.. it helps!!.. good luck!!

I am not sure, but my daughter gets hers next week so we will see!

yeah my bro got his braces last year. he said that it hurts in the few 1st weeks

Yes, they aren't pleasant. When they first put them on, and usually each month until they are removed, you'll have to have them adjusted (tightened). This is quite painful for a few days.

Also, they will probably give you some wax. The braces might rub against the inside of your lips and break the skin, which is also very painful. At night, if you soften the wax uner hot water, and place it over your brackets, it will be smoother against your lips and won't break the skin.

Braces don't hurts. After your teeth are prepared the brackets are place on the teeth, after drying the wire is put and you will feel some pressure at this point, do not take pressure as pain. It might be little bit sore, so you can take anything for it. The must important thing is to take care of them.

yes it does...but it isnt as bad as everyone says it is...
i never actually had any pain after i first got them on i jsut ahd to get used to have all the metal in my mouth..your mouth/teeth/gums will feel tender though after each appointment (but sometimes...it jsut wont even hurt after an appt.) just take some advil or tylenol and try to relax...eat foods that wont hurt your mouth
youll get to know what the pain feels like and will be able to anticipate it, so it wont be so terrible
also, eating/drinking something cold right after you get your braces tightened or put on will helps you to not feel a lot of discomfort

Braces do not really hurt.

Occasionally, a sharp piece may stick out. If so, tell your orthodontist immediately. (You can actually feel for this before you leave the orthodontist's office.)

When people complain about their braces, it is not really sharp pain (like when you have a cut or injury). It is more a pressure or discomfort, particularly when your braces are tightened. Once your teeth begin moving, the pressure is eased.

Think about it this way: it feels as if something is pushing on your teeth, and it is. That's how teeth are straightened.

Usually, ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, etc.) or acetaminophen (Tylenol) are enough to ease any discomfort.

Your pretty smile will be your reward!

yes, but its not unbareable pain, it will go away within 4 days to a week

sometimes when they are putting the bands on and when they tightenthe arch wire but most of the time it is painless
