Know anything about Dental Assistants??

I am starting school in aug. to be a dental asst.

i just want to know what your experience of being a dental assistant is and do you like it? is the job boring at all or are you constantly doing stuff?

i just picture it being boring and sitting behind a desk all day setting up appointments, if its not like that plz correct me and tell me what its like throughout your day at work.

was school hard at all, did u have to learn all the bones in the mouth and head and everything?

how much do you make an hour usually? do you get all kinds of benefits, if so what kind? do you and ur family get free dental work from your dentist or are u still having to pay like u were a patient of his?

these are just some questions i have b4 i actually start school soon, i really think i would like the job but it does seem a little bit boring....

A dental assistant typically works chairside with the dentist and assists with dental procedures.

You will have to learn the anatomy and physiology of the head, the mouth especially. You will also have to study radiography, so that you understand the process when you take x-rays.

Pay varies from state to state, city to city. You can expect to make on average $9-14 an hour.

Benefits will depend on what your employer is able to offer. Some offices offer no insurance benefits at all to their employees.
