I'm getting my permanent crowns next week. Would it be dumb to ask if I can !
Question: I'm having 4 crowns put on my 4 front teeth. I have no idea really, why I'd want to keep the temporary. Can anyone else think of why I might need it? And, do you think the dentist would agree to give it to me? After all, it's costing me $6,000.00! The temporary for the 4 front teeth is actually one piece made to look like 4 teeth. It's quite nice, actually.

Your doc will think this is funny but will be glad to give them to you. They will need to have the cement cleaned out and will begin to smell [try soaking them in some weak bleach to kill the bacteria]. Enjoy your new front teeth but be sure to ask that the be cemented with a temp cement for a few days so you can check them out when you get home. You don't want them on permanently until you're satisfied with the way they look!

Do not think you would ever need it,or be able to use it. But if you want it you paid for it. Good luck!
You can ask to keep it. You wouldn't want to though, it's usually cruddy and disgusting by the time you're ready for your permanent crowns.
no they only last a month or so im in the same boat but they changed colour and start to crumble after a month or so. unfortunitly u cant keep them but your new ones will look lovelly so dont worry :) keep smiling
