What do cavities look like?!

Question: What do "cavities look like you ask"....well you look in your mouth and part of a tooth is missing and the area left over usually has a dark to black look along the edge where the part is missing...Or, you may see a distinct "black hole"...On the other hand, decay can be under the surface of a tooth and you won't necessarily see it visually, that's why a dentist presses a somewhat sharp pointed instrument on various areas of the surface of a tooth. If the sharp point locates a soft spot, that most likely means there is decay underneath the surface. Now, not all cavities are visible or located with an instrument. Some are out of sight between the teeth and that's why a complete dental examination requires full mouth Xrays be taken. Only with an Xray can a number of dental problems be found, and decay (cavities) are one of them. Have a great day and I wish you well.

holes in the teeth i think, thats what dentists normally say then they fill it up with that stuff, you cant normally see them as they are tiny but you can feel them with your tongue

Cavities in a tooth looks like as if some of the tooth had been eaten away by something and there is usually a gap in the tooth.

Little black holes or just black marks on your teeth

Cavities look like darkish spots on the teeth, most of the time they are interproximal or between the teeth so it may be a little difficult to see them.
When you take a dental tool or something else metal and sharp and you GENTLY poke it, the metal object will feel sticky to the tooth :)

A small hole in the tooth, the dentist let me see in my daughters mouth so she could point it out.
