I have recently had my lower front tooth removed, what should I do?!

Question:

I have recently had my lower front tooth removed, what should I do?

That was on Wednesday and I am still in agony, I have been taking 2x 200mg ibuprofen every 4 hours. How long will this last? I have a hole in my gum where the tooth has been removed

Answers:

I guess the pain will start to subside within two to three days, so it should start to be less painful now. Try and gargle or swill a bit of warm salt water (one teaspoon of table salt to a glass).around your mouth to rinse your mouth especially when you can start to eat again. Not vigorously though because this disturbs the blood clots that are part of the healing process.

If you are still in pain then i suggest you phone the dentist/doc on monday or go to the chemist to get some painkillers that are a bit stronger so they help more. I thought ibruprofen was an anti-inflamitory drug?. I would ask you doc if you can take some paracetomal too along side it if the one you have been prescribed doesn't already contain it as a double act.
Good luck x
