Dental implant or bridge for this situation?!

Question:

Dental implant or bridge for this situation?

okay my friend had a tooth with a short root because of developmental reason and its going to fall out soon and then she has 2 options, a bridge which can be done straight away and only cost £200 or get braces to move the other tooth in its place (because they are the wrong way round anyway) and then get an implant (it would be next to the 2 front teeth) which would total in £4000. what would you do?

Answers:

If money is not an issue I would definitely tell her to get the implant. There are a few reasons why this is the best option. When a bridge is done the tooth in front of the lost tooth and the tooth behind the lost tooth have to be prepped (or drilled on to reduce the tooth in size so the new bridge can fit snugly) in order the put the bridge in place. A bridge is three crowns that are fused together with the replacement tooth in the middle. It is always the best option to leave healthy teeth, like the ones that will be prepped, in full without being drilled on. This will prevent future possible problems with these teeth due to weakening from the prepping process. An implant does not affect the opposing teeth and is much stronger than a bridge. You risk less chance of breaking and future problems with an implant so if the funds are available to her that is the best option. Good Luck!
