Do I have a cavity? A toothache?!

Question: One of my teeth really hurts when I touch it, even when I eat bread crusts. I flossed that tooth when I got home and found a piece of food stuck there, and it felt better, but it still hurt a little. I felt with a toothpick all along my tooth, and there are no holes or bumps. But when I flossed in the gum, it hurt. My gums aren't bleeding or inflamed, and I have to get braces tomorrow!! please help!! thanks.

talk to your ortho about it... you could try peroxide or you can just take some advil and wait it out..

your gums could just be aggravated by that piece of food you had! Try rinsing with peroxyl (colgate mouthwash) it is flavored peroxide. it should help with any foreign objects around the gum.

Toothaches are usually caused by dental cavities. Larger ones can collect food debris.

Also, have you been brushing and flossing your gums? If not, you could have gum disease, which is inflammation of the gingiva. If it's early gum disease, brush more often and longer and massage your gums.

Also, is that tooth broken? You could have Cracked Tooth Syndrome, which is basically pain by a tooth 'fracture'.

I'd do some research on Temporo-Mandibular Joint (TMJ) Syndrome to make sure you don't have that.
There are too many possibilities to not go to the dentist.

have you been getting a regular cleaning from your dentist while having braces
