Red Gums? What should I do to get ride of the pain?!

Question:

Red Gums? What should I do to get ride of the pain?

In my mouth, on the side of my upper teeth, its really red. And everytime I bite on that side it starts to hurt. So thats why I thought it would be a cavity. But then my friend looked and said it was red. I have braces so that doesnt really help. And when I went to the orthadontist last month (when it started to hurt) he just loosened up the something. And it didnt help! It went away for a while then came back. Gosh... it hurts!

Answers:

Rinse with Listerine or another antibacterial mouthwash. That might help ease irritation and will keep your mouth more free of bacteria. BUT, call your orthodontist again or see your regular dentist. They're the only ones who can tell what's causing it, and you don't want to take chances with your teeth. Good luck.
