you can major in anything. just s long as u get the pre-requisites done and take the DAT's...and have a good gpa. major in something u are good at, if its not bio/chem, that was my mistake. that brought my gpa down before i actually switched majors.

all u need are the pre-requisites, good GPA and DAT scores. and also experience in dental field, volunteer or something, and join the dental club in your college. that will make your application look good and they'll see that you really want this and are serious about dentist as a career.

pre-reqs include:
(8 semester hours) general biology with lab
(8 semester hours) general chemistry with lab
(8 semester hours) organic chemistry with lab
(8 semester hours) physics with lab

also it helps to take electives if u are not a science major so they know you have someexposrure to advanced science courses, particularly biochemistry, physiology, anatomy, and histology.

good luck with your journey to dental school and work hard!

You need to fulfill the dental requirements for each dental school you're applying to. Your major doesn't matter. The reason why a lot of people entering dental school is a biology or science major is that the requirements for dental school is met when you complete your biology degree.

I however, majored in Economics and after graduation took my course requirements at a junior college. Economics is fun, mostly afternoon classes for me, and decent eye candy all around (for both sexes).

I really don't think they care as long as it's some sort of four-year degree, bonus points if it's the same school.

For example, I did mine in biology, and a girl I know had her undergrad in French. The admissions board thought she was just peachy... since she had been in their undergrad program.

Business would likely be fine, just keep your GPA high.

Well look at the requirements needed for denistry and then choose a major which satisfies most of those requirements, or else you will be just wasting your time!

the dentist i work for majored in chemistry.

YOU CAN MAJOR IN ANYTHING, BUT DENTAL SCHOOL HAS MUCH SCIENCE YET TEACH ABSOLUTELY NO BUSINESS, WHICH IS OF GREAT VALUE TO GRADUATING STUDENTS. YOU CAN ALWAYS DOUBLE-MAJOR IN BOTH BUS + BIO/CHEM.
