White spots on the front of my teeth, near gum line?!

Question: Because I was a smoker (but am not now because I am pregnant), I can see tiny white spots on my teeth at the gums. If I touch these white spots I get a sharp pain... similar to having a cavity? Is this a cavity on the face of my tooth? Has anyone had something simialar or know what is going on.

Thanks in advanced! =]

Without a real exam, I can't tell you for sure, but what I would "guess" it is are what we call "decalcification spots".

These are basically areas where the tooth enamel is just starting to break down at the gumline.

One of the biggest causes of this is the acid in soda.

There are products your dentist can prescribe to reverse these if it is in its early stages (MI Paste, Prevident).

If not reversed early, they will turn into full blown cavities.

Email me if you have any questions!

these spots have little to do with smoking habit.
i can t tell you until i examine you.
these white spots as u tell, may be decalcificatoin spots...

these are chalky white lesions.. preceding the cavity stage. at this time the covering layer of tooth becomes weak.
so, go to your dentist now. get them checked and corrected.

its gud you have quitted smoking... !!!!!!
please dont re-indulge
