Wisdom teeth removed -body aches???!

Question: my boyfriend had 2 of his wisdom teeth removed less than 2 days ago, and is now having body aches. Is this a normal reaction by the body when it has gone thru a "trauma" such as having teeth removed, or is it something we should worry about? I should add, he did not go under -they just gave him numbing shots. It seems like if it were an infection, it would take a little longer for the body to have a reaction like that... Has anyone had this problem when they had their teeth removed?

OK...Hold on don't get into a panic...First, did the DDS give him an Rx for pain control, and Second did he also give him an Rx for antibiotics? It sounds as though he might have an infection working so if he didn't get an antibiotic he needs one. Now, has he been using a cold pack on the cheeks over the extraction sites?..If he's been using a hot pack, stop immediately, it only causes blood gorging and in his case that means additional discomfort. He should not be drinking from a straw or out of a soft drink can or bottle...doing so can dislodge a blood clot from a socket and that isn't something he wants to deal with, it causes a Dry Socket...very painful....He should be rinsing gently with a 10% salt to water mix at least four times a day. While it's unlikely but at the same time possible, his body aches could be an early on set of a flu type bug. If the body aches continue and he becomes feverish, you need to call his MD and quite possibly go in for an exam. If that's not the case the body aches should go away in another 24 to 30 hours...be sure and verify the antibiotic issue. You might also consider going to the pharmacy and purchasing an over the counter product called "OraJel" ,it's a pain control paste he can use over the extraction sites. Good luck and I wish you well

It could just be b/c he can't eat much.

GENERAL BODY ACHES ARE NOT THE NORM WITH TOOTH EXTRACTIONS. THIS MAY BE AN INFECTION STARTING OUT.

HE NEEDS TO GO TO THE ER NOW! DON'T WAIT!
