Infection within the tooth means that the nerve of your tooth is dying and the inflammed nerve is pounding within your pulp chamber. Since the tooth nerve is attached to the blood supply of your heart it is pounding with the beat. When you lay down flat the blood can pump easier especially toward your head. More blood flow in your tooth will increase the pressure on your infected, poorly functioning tooth.
Another possibility is that because your teeth hurt you may tend to clench them. Many people clench and grind their teeth, especially at night. The more pressure put on these teeth, the more sensitive they will be. A tooth that is already having problems will be more susceptible to the excessive pressures created by your jaw joint...especially molar teeth.
Keep Advil going through your system. Depending on how many you take. 2 hours per 1 tablet. So if you take 3, it will be every 6 hours, 4- which is like a prescription dose is 800mg and repeat every 8 hours. Keep your teeth as plaque free as possible, especially at night when your mouth is more dry and the plaque acids can burn your teeth more. Rinse with a fluoride rinse after brushing to increase the chance of fluoride reaching decayed areas. Use a soft brush at least twice a day for 2-3 minutes in order to remove the majority of the plaque and don't avoid the gum area even if it bleeds. If you have a large area of decay...keep it very clean. You won't correct the decay, but maybe it will help keep the tooth more comfortable till you can see the dentist.

hey
i dont know why, someone else will answer that but its normal. all patients i see and myself too, feel pain a lot more at night when u have a toothache. i'd say it has something to do with lying down and the blood pressure somewhere.

Arrr man tooth ache cant beat it can ya, horrible pain, try drinking warm substances such as warm milk, helps a bit for me, but other than that it's just tooth lol ojj. :)

Have you been using whiteners? That can cause your teeth to be especially sensitive. Or if you've got stuff stuck inbetween them, that can irritate the gums and roots, make sure you floss.
