Well first ill tell you wats in teh bag:
(this is what i got)
1. a t-shirt from my orthodontist
2. a toothbrush
3. toothpaste
4. wax
you orthodontist might have this too- phos-flur moutwash- it is especially for braces, its a flouride rinse that you can buy at drug stores too
Now the step by step weay to put on braces:
1. they brush you teeth with this sandy toothpaste and then you go rinse out your mouth.
2. they put teh thingy that keeps your mouth open in an =d then some cotton ball tingys in your mouth
3. they paint your teeth with this stuff that tastes bad (i didnt taste it tho) and then they dry your teeth and paint htem again and then dry them again (you teeth have to be really dry and the stuff they put on your teeth makes teh braqckets stick
4. they glue the brackets on and then you have to let them dry
5. once teh brckets are dry the put the molar bands on they put them on your teeth using a bite stick that you have to bite down on to make it go around your tooth first they do this without teh cement to make sure they ahve the right size. (this may hurt when they put them on because your gums may bleed and you may feel pressure on your mouth when he has to pull them off)
then once they get hte right size the line the insides wioth cement and put them on
6. you let that dry
7. they put the wire on
8. they pur the colored elastics on teh brackets
9. UR DONE!!
You are going to have them for years to come. My grand daughter had them for 4 years. She is 15 and Just had them removed. Every month or so, they tighten them and it is uncomfortable. Trust me. I wouldn't want them my self, they sound like a major hassle.
ok heres the braces part.
you lay in the chair and they put 4 bands on (metal circle things that go around your tooth) on your molars (back teeth).
they glue all the braces on, tooth by tooth. then they put the wire on, and cut the remaining wire off at the back, where the bans are. this takes about an hour. very easy and painfree.
the bag they give you usually has a mirror (the ones that the dentists use), some wax that you put on the braces is you get an ulcur, an ortho toothbrush which has an interdental brush ( a brush that u can put inbetween the wires, which looks like a mini pipecleaner), and some ortho floss. if i remember correctly, thats all that was done,
i also remember that when i had the braces put on, i took my discman (youd probably take you ipod) to listen to while they put the braces on.
What jackie said sounds right. Don't worry, the process is pain-free it is just the next 3 - 6 days will be uncomfortable. Take painkillers - these will help in relieving the discomfort.
Braces also take a fair amount of looking after. The ortho will advise you on this. Don't worry braces aren't that bad - you will learn to live with them. My braces were put in last october and they coming out next month : so treatment differs for everybody.

when i got mi braces it wasn't that bad until the next day but tighting them is sorer i got mine tightened yestorday
