Is it safe to remove braces glue from your teeth after years?!

Question: I've had my braces off for about 2 or 3 years.
When the othrodontist took off my braces he took off all the glue except for about 4 teeth.
I didn't say anything because he just said to continue brushing my teeth with a harder bristle brush, and it would wear off soon. Well its been three years, and it still remains. Recently it has just been bothering me. I have a dentist appointment this Monday...but is there a possibitly that he might scratch off my enamel since its been there so long??

And...

Is there a cheap way to whiten teeth, besides, using whitening toothpaste.

Please and Thank you!!!

I think you would be risking chipping/pulling off pieces of enamel if you tried to remove them yourself. However, the dentist may have a solvent or something that can remove them safely. I don't think removing them now would be more risky than removing them 2 or 3 years ago - I doubt they have become 'more stuck on' to your teeth over time. Discuss your worries with your dentist.

As for the whitening,

and

provide some info about natural home remedies. Brushing with baking soda and gargling with peroxide seem to be the most recommended. I've never tried these methods, however, so I can't advise you on the effectiveness/safety of them.

Hope that helps!

All the best,
Stefanie
