When they remove your wisdom teeth do they knock you out.?!

Question:

When they remove your wisdom teeth do they knock you out.?

I asked this question last night but I forgot to put another thing in here. My wisdom teeth are not out yet. they can never come out. my bottem ones are growing into my teeth which has already cause the molars that are next to them to be chipped and i just recently had 1 molar pulled and my top ones are going into my jaw {not out } so will they knock me out to do the cutting open and all that nasty stuff they doing.
I got to get my wisdom teeth removed, {causing way to many problems in there } and i am really scared. do they put you to sleep while they take them out. ? and how long does it take? and how do they put you to sleep?

Answers:

Depending on the number of teeth being extracted and the difficulty of the extractions, the time and anaesthetics used will vary.

Complicated extractions, such as impacted third molars (wisdom teeth), usually require you to be heavily sedated, or put out (general anaesthetic). The time length will vary for a complicated extraction, due to the degree of difficulty, and the number of teeth to be extracted. If all of your wisdom teeth are impacted, be ready to be there for an hour maybe more.

Simple extractions don't take long at all. The dentist will just pop it out in about 5 - 10 minutes, and you might not even need to be sutured up.

If you have any questions regarding your extraction, never feel shy to call your dentist's office and ask as many questions as you feel you need to. Your dental team is there to help you and to help you understand everything that is going on in your mouth. THey understand that people are nervous becuase they aren't dental professionals, and they want to make you feel as comfortable as they can before any procedure. May of them have gone through the same thing your going through. Just because they are part of a dental team, doesn't mean they have perfect teeth and have never had problems. They get nervous too, even though they know what to expect. You're not alone. If you're need to know something, ask your dental team, they will know what to say.
