How bad does it hurt??!

Question: So I go on Monday to have my wisdom teeth cut out. The dentist only uses a numbing agent-no sedation or n2o. How much pain should I expect to be in and how long does it take to heal?? Also how long before you can talk right??

Make absolutely sure he gives you enough numbing agent.
If he does, you shouldn't feel any pain, maybe just some pressure (but it shouldn't make you want to cry.)
And be sure to ask for N2O if you think it would help! It's part of his professional oath to both improve and protect your health, and pain control is part of that!

Other ways to deal with pain:
1. Take an ibuprofen a couple of hours before the procedure.
2. Take the pain medication he prescribes as soon as the prescription is filled, whether you hurt yet or NOT.
3. Take a CD player or an Ipod with you, and listen to music--loud music!--while they work. It will help distract you.
4. Put an ice pack on your jaw when you get home, and sleep at a bit of an angle (not flat) so your head is above your heart.

My friends and I were only hurting for 2-3 days, and this was improved a lot by taking pain medication regularly. You'll be able to talk after the procedure, usually much better after the swelling and numbness go away (2-3 hours?)

If you can, have someone drive you home after the procedure.

No offence, but I see you recently had a baby. If you can handle childbirth, you'll do FINE with having your wisdom teeth removed. It's not that bad at all.

it hurts but im sure you can handle it!!!! best wishes wait your dentist is numbing it sooo you'll be fine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You will be sore for a couple of days after the procedure. The dentist will give you meds for that though. You shouldn't feel any pain while they actually remove the teeth, only pressure. I had mine removed a few months back and was eating normal food after three days.

Isure hopethat you are seeing an oral surgeon to have the procedure done. They will make you very numb and you should feel nothing except pressure.Less than having a baby!!!!. After 24 hrs from the extractions begin using warm salt water rinses, several times aday for 10 days.Do not rinse, spit use straws smoke or eat and drink anything hot after having the extractions done this should be explained to you at the end of the procedure. It only applies for the first 24 hrs. after the extraction Then as I said he warm salt water rinses should begin.. GOOD LUCK with the procedure and your new baby.Pain should be minimal. I hope you are given a pain med.

I had mine taken out a few years ago. I was in no pain at all well should I say very little I was in such little pain all the Dr wrote me was 800MG IBU and I was fine. It takes about a week to heal and you should talk right after the swelling goes down...I hope this helps
