What should I do about my wisdom teeth?!

Question:

What should I do about my wisdom teeth?

Both of my wisdom teeth have come in and my teeth seem to be slightly crowded and it's a little painful (nothing advil hasn't been able to help with so far). Problem is, I don't have any type of dental insurance and I can't afford it. Do I need to have them removed? I've had braces in the past and am worried the crowding is undoing the straightening from braces. Are there any dental professionals who can tell me what I should be doing, or not doing?

Answers:

If you don't have dental insurance, try to call a local, larger university or dental school and they may do it at a very low rate. The downside is that you may have to wait a while.

If you have medical insurance, there is a slight chance they may cover the removal, because taking 4 or more out is generally considered a medical procedure.

Good luck!
