how much longer would i have to keep invasalign on compared to braces? is there anything better to straighten teeth?

It all depends on your personal situation and ortho needs. Some people can't have Invisalign because their needs are too great for them. Thus they have to resort to the traditional bands and brackets to move their teeth where they should be. It is like comparing apples to oranges.
