I apologize if this comes off a bit harsh, but -- tough love, I suppose. Perhaps the motivation you need to remember is the power of knowledge, so here we go:

Your behavior is inexcuseable.

Regular cleanings every two months are absolutely ridiculous for a young patient. People under the age of thirty should never need appointments before 6 months -- They don't build calculus that fast!!

Gum disease (ginigvitis) IS reversable, but periodontitis is NOT. And guess what? Gingivits leads to perio. Yes, that is where your teeth fall out of your friggin head because there are so many microorganisms invading your bone.

Bottom Line: You need to get ahold of this before it takes control of you.

You don't want to have dentures by the time you are thirty.

That is not sexy.

Your mouth can be back to health (from gingivitis) in 14 days ... but during those 14 days you HAVE to take care of your gums.

Toothbrushing:
~Manual Toothbrush: 10 minutes a day -- how you split that up is up to you.
~Electric: 4 Minutes a day.

Always brush TOWARD the gum line. A 45 degree angle is your best bet. The bugs settle in your gums, so get em outta there.

Flossing: Put it everywhere, shower, purse, nighstand, backpack, EVERYWHERE. Do it once per day.

When you floss GENTLY guide it in, make a C around one tooth, then to the other side. Pull out. Never jam it down, you will just injure your gums.

I wish you the best of luck, and I hope you take this advice to heart.

Treat the brush as ur husband, kiss it every morning and night

I know this is weird, but keep a toothbrush in ur purse so u will brush after meals. Floss in the shower. i keep my floss in the shower because I like to think so i do both.

Have a reminder set up. Don't go to bed until you've flossed, keep floss next to your bed so you will remember. Keep a timer to ensure you brush for two minutes. Get an electric toothbrush that keeps the time for you. Buy toothpaste that tastes extra specially good, so that you can look forward to brushing. Keep a picture of someone who has had bone loss due to periodontal disease posted where you can see it every day!

Try brushing your teeth after you wash your hands when you've been to the toilet. Its something everyone does in the morning and at night to. I also tell my kids that it doesn't matter if they brush then eat, as long as they do brush.
Or you could right a check list, it may sound lame but you might not have to do it long before you remember on your own.

In addition to all the wonderful advise.....Get those Brush-ups and keep em in your pocket, purse wherever you are. Then every time after you eat pull one out and use it. You will get used to having clean feeling teeth and hopefully get to the point where you have to! It will eventually drive you insane if you try to go to bed with out brushing!
You can carry floss or like I do, get some of those disposable flossers. They even have a tooth pick on the end so its all good. Never again will you walk around with black things in your teeth lol. Yeah well your friends just don't tell you... trust me we've all done it.
It also would not hurt to get some good mouth wash (in case your brushing does not cut it ;)
Act is a good one and will not burn the inside of your mouth out lol... pain never a good thing. It has fluoride so it will promote healthy teeth and gums.
