What do the Rubber Bands do for Braces?!
Question: I have been wearing rubber bands like 24/7 for a month now. Yes they are annoying and dry out my mouth. But I get my braces off in June.
What what exactly do rubber bands do?
My orthodontist said if I wear them all the time, I'll have my braces off by June. But I don't get what they are for. How would he know if I was wearing them?

well the rubber bands things help fix your bite and it helps the braces hold the teeth togetherso when you get you braces off there is a less posibility that the teeth will move back
it helps you with your bite. so when you bite something you bite correctly and you dont bite all funny.
p.s- dont be stupid like 1 of my friends she didnt wear them and so when she went to the dentist they made her keep them on even longer.
The rubber bands can be doing lots of different things, depending on how he told you to wear them. They can be pulling your jaw foward, or back, or foward and to the side and the list goes on lol.
They can tell if your wearing them by seeing if there is a change in where the jaw sits. Me personally, didnt really wear them lol.
i think they just move your jaw into the correct position
Why don't you ask your dentist?
