Tooth extracted - What should the blood clot look like?!

Question:

Tooth extracted - What should the blood clot look like?

Hi I got a tooth extracted on Monday. The hole doesnt seem to be getting any smaller. The gums are rock-hard and painful to touch, but its only painful when I touch it.

In the hole there's grey-ish stuff and I'm pretty sure its not food or anything, cause 1 I've hardly eaten and when I have I've used the salt wash and its always been there, though before it was red.

Occasional bad taste

Answers:

it's early days yet - it may take a couple more days to stop hurting. Don't keep touching it as you will make it worse - have a swish around with warm salty water. The hole will take a while to close over so it is important that you have a swish to dislodge any food in there. Give it another week and see how you feel. Any problems, go back to the dentist.
