Is this normal?(wisdom teeth)?!

Question: I am a 17 year old female and I just got 3 of my wisdom teeth removed. I am in a lot of pain & I had it done yesterday at about 12. My face is swollen & so is my lip. I can barely open up my mouth enough to brush my teeth. I have stitches in all of them & 2 in one wisdom teeth. I am in a lot of pain as I have stated before. My doctor gave me vicodin for the pain and it was working well & now I'm in pain and back to bleeding(I've been bleeding since yesterday). My throat hurts I can barely swallow anything. And I'm SOO hungry. All I can do is suck bread & drink juice. I can't eat anything else without pain.

should I go back and see him? Because as you see it is very late 1:57 where I am. And I'm up with all this pain.

Try eating soft things like jello or pudding. When I had my wisdom teeth pulled I had the same problem as you. The first night was horrible. Try sucking on ice cubes (small ones) and/or apply a cold compress to the swollen areas of your face. Your throat is probably sore because you are swollen. That will go away soon. As for the bleeding...if that keeps up by like Monday. Then go to your doctor. Otherwise, just stay on the medication and eat some soft things like: pudding, jello, soup, suck on ice or popsicles, eat mashed potatoes, apple sauce, I even had baby food...some of it is pretty tasty. Oatmeal is another option or maybe even smoothies or milkshakes. Just be sure that you DO NOT USE A STRAW. You do not want the sutures to rupture from the force of the sucking action when using a straw. Take care and hope you are back up and at 'em soon.

no it is completely normal, wisdom tooth extraction is very painful. The pain should start to go away starting the next day. The first day is always the worst.
