Gum infection?? help!?!

Question: i'm almost 14 and i've had braces for about 6 months now. my teeth are pretty bad because i never brushed them when i was younger and just recently started getting into the habit of it.

also recently, my gums have swelled in one area and are throbbing every so often. i know that can happen as well as a bit of bleeding when you start brushing on sensitive gums, but for some reason it's just in one area and is really red and hurts way worse then most dental problems i've had before! (which is saying a lot).

i'm worried it might be a kind of a gum infection, or even disease (eek!) i'm going to the dentist next week, but he always yells at me for my teeth being bad.. i'm trying hard to take care of them but im so worried about what to do!

any advice? :/

It is very likely that you have a gum infection. That is not a large problem if you deal with it right now. Go to a drop in clinic or emergency and ask for an antibiotic prescription. Make sure that you take the full prescription and do not stop just because you are feeling better. The prescription will be for 5 to 10 days but you should feel relief after only 2to3 days.
This is only a temporary solution though. That only treats the symptoms and not the cause. The cause is your bad teeth. If you dint like your dentist try a new one.

I have had bad teeth the same as you for the same reasons. As a result i was having gum infections come and go for the last year, landing me in emergency 2 times.

Because i didn't fix my teeth fast enough and allowed the gum infection to go on for so long i now have a skin rash disorder that is known to begin after infections,

You probably dint have any serious gum disease being that you are young. The warmth and the throbbing and the pain are exactly what a simple gum infection is. Go to emergency or a walk in clinic right now. Do not wait for a family doctor appointment. Emergency could take houres of waiting around so bring a book, water, a snack and a Friend for company.
