Only half of my daughters loose tooth came out?!

Question: A family friend insisted to pull my daughter 9 years old loose tooth out last night only half of it came out (it brook off) the other half is still in. It doesnt seam to bother her. A friend of mine said the other half will eventually work its self out. Cant get to our family dentist for a couple of days, wondering if I can get any feed back from Yahoo family. Thank you in advance.

Your friend is probably right.

As a parent this seems like a big deal (it is your baby!)... but from a dental perspective its not that bad. Especially she's not in pain.

I assume that there wasn't an infection beforehand - just a typical loose tooth for a girl her age.

Her body will puch out those few remaining fragments over the next few weeks.

If she does tell you it starts to hurt, or if it looks like there is swelling around it have it checked out right away!

Good Luck!

This is pretty nasty. If she can, she should keep wiggiling the tooth. But don't do anything to extreme, wait for the dentist! : )

If the root pieces are left for long , than they can increase the risk of infection

The other half will not come our own its own probably the roots will resorb-it can also cause infection.

Please get them pulled out as soon as possible

You should get to the dentist asap. It could get infected or cause an infection. Your dentist will need to pull the other half out. Make sure you keep the area clean, and tell the dentist what happened, they may be able to get her in sooner becaue of that.

Woah I think till you you can get to the dentist you should just stick to what your friend said unless your really going to get in there im guessing on how loose the top of the tooth is it might hurt but its your choice and shes your child but if shes distaced by it at least try to do something with it

Leave it alone until you get to the dentist.
