How do I brush with braces?!

Question: I did exactly what the orthodontist told me to do, and I can sometimes take 5 minutes brushing, two minutes flossing, and a minute of rinsing with listerine, but I can still see the plaque and stuff near the gumline sometimes. What am I doing wrong?

When you brush your teeth, you have to brush between the braces and your gumline, and then below the braces to get the edges of your teeth. A lot of times people have the toothbrush right on the braces, and that pushes the bristles away from the teeth. There is a toothbrush (I think Oral-B makes it) that is specially designed for brushing with braces. The middle part is cut out so the longer bristles can clean your teeth while the middle part goes over the bracket. Next time you go into your ortho's office, have them give you some tips if you're still having trouble.

When i had braces this is what i did. I DIDNT BRUSH, what to do is get a good mouth wash and floss if its not workin out then you could brush but it hurts ALOT

How are you flossing with braces? Are you using a floss threader? What kind of brush are you using? A spinbrush is great at the gum line. Even better is the sonicare.

Brush around your gums and get your teeth good too. Use a floss threader.
