Wisdom teeth removed: When can I...?!

Question: I had my wisdom teeth out on Tuesday. At what point can I safely suck on things again? I know I'm not supposed to use straws or anything like that for a while, but I have a daily powder inhaler that I haven't been able to take because it requires a strong sucking motion to use.

Also, any advice on when the stitches will dissolve and when the pain will be gone and I can eat normal food again?

my mother is a dental assistant and its best to wait till your stitches disolve and your able to eat solid foods with ease. dry sockets r extremly painful and you dont want to get them. just be patient :) you should be able to start eating solid foods within a week when you go for your next check up

4-5 days.

You DO NOT want dry sockets.

Wait as long as you possibly can to use straws and things like that, it will totally be worth it to avoid dry sockets.

i was all good after a week and a half. but i didnt need stitches

Im sorry i really have no idea, i would just call the dentist and ask, maybe they wrote it down on something, they should had told you like a week or something like they did for my brother when he had dental work......?

When I had mine out I was back on normal foods within 48 hours, stitches gone in 5 days, and by day 7 it was like nothing had happened. You should call your dentist (oral surgeon, whatever applies) and ask about your inhaler. It's probably fine, but it's always best to ask beforehand.

My stitches weren't the dissolving kind, I had to get mine unstitched, you can say, a week after the initial surgery. The pain however did not go away until 2 weeks later. I'm assuming you cannot "suck" on anything till the stitches are gone. The stitches might come undone if you put any unnecessary force/pressure on them and will make you bleed all over again.

give it atleast 2 weeksso you dont end up with dry socket that is the worst pain you will ever feel!

You should call your dentist and ask.
Its better to be safe than sorry.

Ive never got my Wisdom teeth removed so i'm not sure
good luck though .

Right so its wisdom teeth . Usually the soluble stitches which are said to dissolve in one week's time do not dissolve in less than 8 to 10 days time completely. None thing--- never , never try to touch or pull the stitch cord because that will cause bleeding and even the formation of a spicule which is a very small bone particle which gets dislodged and comes out as a bone protrusion and which, to get taken care of would mean additional surgery and sometimes serious complications. The pain should go away after the third day. There should be no pain thereafter. So far as eating normal food is concerned, I would strongly suggest not to have normal food for at least three weeks to a month. Salt water gargles with the approval of your dentist four to five times a day would be great help.Listerine, with the approval of your doctor diluted half and half with water would help keep infections away and healing faster. What would heal the best is to take Vit. C 500 mg twice a day with breakfast and lunch. Calcium with Vit.D 600 mg. will help if taken in divided doses with breakfast and lunch twice a day. Vit. C aids in healing and is the only anti-inflammatory vitamin. If you have a daily powder inhaler that you have not been able to use, tell your doctor about it. Ask him the same questions you have asked here. Don't feel shy. He is required to answer all your questions. Report any bleeding or unusual inflammation to your doctor. We people feel shy and do not ask the doctors. He was supposed to have answered all the questions you have asked here. You paid him didn't you? To be o the safer side I would suggest you not to take normal food on the side of the extraction for a least one and a half months. And begin eating very slowly and carefully. Until you are sure things are perfectly alright. This is my personal observation. So I wish you the best and good luck. God Bless you.
