Your gums are bleeding because microorganisms are invading and causing your immune system to attack not only the infection, by inadvertently, your gums as well.

WHAT?
That means that your gums are infected and your body is trying to fix it.

WHAT TO DO?
Brush for 5 minutes in the morning and 5 minutes at night. Brush at a 45 degree angle TOWARD the gum line. Think of it as brushing down INTO your gums.

When you floss, make sure that you don't JAM the floss down in between your teeth, just ease it in. Make sure that you make a C shape with the floss when you are in between your teeth ... kind of like the floss is hugging one side, then the other.

Within 14 days of practicing this, your gums should be beautiful and not bloody.

Good gums: Light Pink in color, firm, look like they have little dimples, tight to your teeth.

Bad gums: Red or dark pink in color, spongy, shiny, swollen, and bloody.

Good Luck!

your flossing into your gums, and its cutting the skin, I do it too

Your gums are sensitive...usually caused by not flossing frequently...if u try and floss once a day for 2 weeks, eventually your gums will get used to it and the bleeding will stop.

Do you also bleed when you brush your teeth? If you do, then you might have peridontal disease and the dentist can give you something for that.

Healthy gums don't usually bleed, but like the person that said you might be using the floss incorrectly.

A visit to the dentist for a cleaning will help you use your floss the right way.
