I've got my tongue pierced a month ago, What's growing at the base?!

Question:

I've got my tongue pierced a month ago, What's growing at the base?

Hi, I pierced my tongue a month ago and ever since there's been a white thing growing at the base, it only grows at the front... I know it's not infected and I'm really clean with it, I use Colgate mouth wash and some of it disolves with it. I want to know what it is and what can I do to eliminate it completely because I've gotten tired of wating for it just "to go away". Please HELP¨=) Thanks

Answers:

It could be a skin tag, which will go away on it's own. Nothing to worry about.

Since you say that some of it dissolves when you use mouthwash, it sounds like plaque buildup. You need to brush your jewelry when you brush your teeth (gently, since the piercing is still fresh). It's normal, everyone gets it, just make sure you're cleaning it (if there is a lot of buildup, you may have to gently scrape it away with your fingernail - after washing your hands thoroughly!)
