Toothache aND NO PULLING?!

Question:

Toothache aND NO PULLING?

WELL i wen to get my tooth pulled today and got to the dentist ,he numbed my gums with three viles of numbing medicine at the same time.when he came back in he asked "well how do u feel " i told him my side of my mouth was numb but i still felt discomfort in my tooth, he was very rude and sent me home without pulling my tooth and made me pay for half of my visit. he said he thought i felt nothing but i was nervous.my question is how does your mouth feel after the medicine wears off i feel really bad is this normal?also he said i should go see a ortho surgeon. i think he was unprofessional he tried nothing to make me feel at ease.should i try another dentist or pay the extra cash to go to the surgeon?i dont know what to do . i took time off to take care of this and now i have to come up with more money and find more time to take off plus no insurance.he gave me 10 vicoden es, will those affect my blood pressure

Answers:

I'm a Registered dental assistant not a Dentist but I do know that being nervous can have an affect on the ability to become numb. I don't know what your particular case is but if the tooth has an infection (abcess) that would explain why your tooth was not fully numb but the side of your face was. Infected teeth are more difficult to numb. If you do have an infection, sometimes what we do at our office for the comfort of the patient we prescribe a series of antibiotics and then have the patient return for the removal of the tooth. As far as feeling bad after the medicine wears off, if there is an infection and the tooth was not removed then it would be normal because the problem is still present. I would definitely try another dentist and would call the dentist that was rude and fight to get your money back after all no services were rendered also let them know that the dentist was rude and not very helpful. Let them know you were completely unsatisfied with their services. If you were referred to an oral surgeon that might not be a bad idea if your nervous and the tooth is infected because they can put you in a twilight sleep. If it hurts so much and Motrin doesn't help and you choose to take the Vicodin make sure you eat prior to taking it. It can make you sick if you fail to do so. I hope this was helpful.
