Soda addicts and braces? HELP!!?!
Question: I used to be a soda addict. i used to drink average 2-3 cans of coke zero a day, and sometimes more. I have stopped now but I have had braces for 9 months and I am worried I will have stains and I mean SOO WORRIED. I have been constanly looking in the mirror for the past 4 months and every day i worry about it. I asked my ortho and he said he would be very surprised if I had stains since my teeth were so clean, and the people who get those stains are the ones who live of coke and mars bars and don't brush their teeth. Is ther anyone out ther who is lyk me? and anyone who did get stains after braces did you remove them? if so how?

I'm the biggest soda addict you'll ever meet. I have 2-3 drinks a day as well too, but the 32 ounce ones!! (sometimes 4).. which - just 1 of those would be equivalent to what you use to drink per day.
anyway, I had braces as well.. and I was very worried about stains. I thought I'd get little white square stains on each tooth, after my braces were removed.
But, if you brush morning and night, you won't have them. I had my braces on for almost 4 years- while drinking soda the whole time- and I don't have those stains!
anyway, there is always crest whitening strips if it comes down to it. lol ~ I think you're fine. Congrats on quitting.. that's something I couldn't do! the other day I figured that I spent about $68 a MONTH on Coke. It's insane~ good luck
get professional oral prophylaxis done after removal of braces.
My orthodontist has told me that almost everyone will have some staining when the brackets are removed. This is because the area where the brackets are located are not exposed liquids and foods that may stain; there will be discoloration. You may use crest whitestrips but in some cases professional whitening is needed.
