The white underneath sounds like yeast or thrush. You may have to go to the doctor and get Nystatin to clear it up. Your mouth is the nastiest part of your body and some people just don't heal as fast as others. If the white patch underneath lasts more than three more days, you may need to consult your physician.

I'd go back to where you had it done and ask them if this is normal and what you should use. Any decent piercer should happily offer aftercare advice. Failing that then go see a doctor
my advice is to just take it out.
over time tounge rings are detramental to your teeth.
they destroy bone and eventually will cause your teeth to chip and fall out.
i work in a periodontal office and we constantly see patients who have recession, severe bone loss, and mobility due to tounge rings.
if you absolutely HAVE to keep it...i'd recommend using plastic balls as opposed to metal.
although tounge rings are not great for your dental health, the plastic will slow down the rapid bone loss and recession more so then metal.
